Telegram Stars vs Telegram Premium: Which Do You Need?

Updated:

Telegram Stars and Telegram Premium are often confused, but they solve different problems. One is a currency you spend, the other a subscription you keep. This guide shows which one fits your case.

What Telegram Stars are

Stars are Telegram's own in-app currency. You spend them on digital goods in bots and mini apps, on paid reactions to posts and on gifts for other users. Stars are consumed when you spend them, so you top up again when the balance runs low.

What Telegram Premium is

Premium is a subscription for an account. It is sold for a fixed period (1, 3, 6 or 12 months) and, unlike Stars, nothing is “spent”: the account simply has Premium until the period ends. You can buy it for your own account or as a gift for someone else.

Which one do you need?

  • You want to pay in a bot or mini app, send a paid reaction or give a gift: you need Stars.
  • You want your account to have the Premium subscription for a period of time: you need Premium.
  • You want both: they are independent, so buy each one separately.

How to buy either on YoozMarket

Both work the same way and need no password or login code, only the recipient's username:

  • Create a free account and add funds to your wallet.
  • Open “New order”, choose Telegram → Stars & Premium, then a Stars pack, a custom amount, or a Premium plan.
  • Enter the recipient's username with @ and confirm; the cost is shown in dollars first.
  • Follow the order under “Orders” in your dashboard.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Sending to a wrong username: Stars or Premium delivered to it cannot be reversed, so double-check before confirming.
  • Ordering for an account without a username: the recipient must have one.
  • Expecting Stars instantly: they may take a little while, so check the order status instead of ordering twice.
